Welcome to the website of the SAIL (Strengthening Academic and Industrial Links) Thematic Network. SAIL is one of only fourteen thematic networks funded by the European Commission within the framework of the "Promotion of innovation and encouragement of SME participation" programme. SAIL is co-ordinated by Advantage West Midlands and Coventry University Enterprises and is a member of the Innovating regions in Europe network On this page you will find links to the various areas of our site; click on the menu bar above or below to find out more about sail. Our Member Profiles section will give you the background on the 14 members of the SAIL thematic network, without whom the network would not exist Within the thematic areas of SAIL; Incubator Schemes; Knowledge Transfer; Technology Transfer and Research and Development; you will find profiles of projects that have been undertaken by other organisations and details of news and website links related to information in each area. The SAIL Best Practice Report has now been published highlighting examples of academic/industry linkage across Europe and exploiting the capability that regions can generate by developing a co-ordinated approach to the linking of higher education and research centres with business. If you would like a copy, simply contact the SAIL co-ordination team via the contact page. We welcome your feedback and involvement in our activity. We look forward to hearing from you
